Overclocked my i7 to 3.8.
Doe's the temps on idle and load look ok. as on prime it was near 100
And 1 core is 10 degres lower ?

Cheers.

Blimy yeah. what's you'res on idle ?
I have 3 fans at the front, 1 on top and rear exhaust. and the cpu cooler.
What good it be ? paste not applied very good maybe ?

I did notice you abit choppy in games

I'm running my i7 920 @ 3.8Ghz 1.28 volts using the same noctua cooler as yourself apart from i have removed both the supplied fans and are using 1 x scythe s-fex 1600rpm fan.It idles at around 35c & with 100% load the temps hover around the 60c mark, tim wise i'm using artic cooling mx2 and have applied this as per the instructions on the artic silver site which is one thin line down the middle.

Considering you have HT disabled yeah those temps are really bad, it must be poor heatsink contact.

Don't leave QPI & RAM voltage on auto as it will raise them really high when overclocking, both those voltages will affect cpu temperature as they are on die.

My i7 920 at 3.8GHz (HT on) runs in the 75-90C region full load but I have low profile cooling and warm ambient temps (central heating on :p)

What shall i set the QPI to, same as cpu volts ? and what does that HP meant to do, is it a good thing to have enabled ?
I best take the board out and redo the past etc

Sorry if I am in the wrong place as I am a knewb when it comes to posting, but I just ordered the coolermaster v8 for my i7 and wondered if anyone on here has the same fan.

I'm not interested in water cooling, mainly because of the horror stories, and as a student, this machine has to work ALWAYS! I was also told the reason the stock intel fans suck so bad is because they don't have a wall around the fan and therefore cannot physically create suction. anyhow, If anyone is going to buy an i7, don't be like me and wait to see how good the stock fan is, trust me for the $300 i paid for the thing I feel like they made the fan for $2. btw, i ordered artic silver 5 paste w/coolermaster.

I know my post just screams knewb.
evga x58 sli mobo
i7 920 @ 3.35ghz on stock air and temps on all cores idle around 60c, and max at upper 70's and lower 80's.
6 gb OCZ platinum 1600mhz ram (of course cant get to 1600mhz... yet)
xfx gtx 285 xxx edition running strong solo style (at stock speeds)
apevia x cruiser case (which i don't care what anyone says i LOVE this case).
500gb western digital green drive (need another to run RAID still, my next upgrade)
Oh and a 600w NXZT sli ready psu (which I was told was not enough power but seems to be doing fine)

don't know how to post screen shot or I would. I'm such a knewb on threads, i mainly just read them and have never once took the time to register and post till today. Please bear with me and any suggestions on how to hook up my post to not be so knewbish will be greatly appreciated as from what I've have read on here this is a really kick azz site.
