I'd be grateful for advice. I've o/c'd a CPU before but it was a long time ago.
This i7-3770K IvyBridge is labelled at 3.5GHz but I'd like to take it up to 4.0 or 4.1 - a moderate o/c - I am not interested in extracting the most possible out of it. I use this PC for Flight Simulation mostly.
Air cooling is with Noctua NH-D15S - recently installed as a replacement for an old water cooling system.
I realise IvyBridge chips run hot - at rest now on air cooling, the core temps are 35-38C.
There is an option in UEFI to load an optimised overclock for both the CPU and GPU. I'm a bit nervous of this - should I be?
On the BIOS CPU voltage is set to Auto, CPU PLL voltage is 1.8; Vcore 1.08 max.; temp 35.5C idle.
HW Mon gives package temp as 38C idle.
Thanks for any help!
