ok my 3820 is running at 3800 but on idle in the core speed it would reduce to 1200...now for some reason it has stopped reducing the speed whe nidle it stays at 3800...my system spec is in my sig....thanks

ok so ive found how to do it its in power options performance....anyway should i have it running at a slower speed when idle or full speed all the time....does it affect any performance when running lower or just adjust performance like say playing a game....thanks

its switches to full speed when theres a big enough demand on the processor, its all automatic, same as modern graphic cards,it will ramp up and down in speed depending on the load

thats what i thought...found out why it changed aswell...samsung magician you can use it to change power options i did this morning and thats how come its changed...

yeah just keep an eye on power options,i use balanced

aslong as its on that and eist is enabled in the bios it should downclock at idle, some boards wont if you use a fixed cpu voltage

thanks ....only reason i noticed was my temps had increased ...i even replaced the themal paste that reduced it by 5 degree before i noticed the core speed....any way does no harm replacing the thermal paste now and again lol
