hey guys so i wawnna use prime95 to test for erros on stuff and i have reset to my defaults with my cpu and when i stress test about 20mins in all cores are at 100c is this normal. i wanna stress test for more but the cores are all too high right ?

Yes, entirely normal. You cant use prime to stress test haswell chips. Due to how they use thermal paste between the die and ihs instead of solder, heat transfer is very poor. Any program that uses AVX instructions will heat them up very quickly. Most of us on here use Asus real bench to test with, much more realistic for temps.

so wait im confused is it normal to reach 100c after 20mins? i am using a h100i with silent fans. i install the fans by myself for the first time now im thinking maybe if i have had the fans installed by me compeltely wrong making the airflow bad for the reason on the high temps?

how do i know if its working properly?

feel both pipes for a slight vibration of the water flow, check in BIOS/ monitoring app for pump RPM (assuming connected to a mobo header)

Oh and I forgot the classic, you DID take the clear plastic off than covers the waterblock/pump? (dunno about corsair but CM has this).

What are your idle temps and what is you Vcore and Vring?

I also have the H100i and the 4790k. Running Prime also puts mine upto 100c, so I would say its normal. Everything else is fine, just Prime that whacks the heat up. As already stated by setter, its due to how the heatsink (of the chip) is mounted.

i have a 4790k 4.4ghz turbo chip so it is not even overclocked maybe that is why it gets so hot by default. also can anyone give me a exact link so i can stresstest my cpu and see what temps are like after 30mins or so?
