they do look good :), would match perfect with ROG stuff. But I'm not really a case window type of guy.

My Corsair DDR4 are not very impressive, can only get 3000 Mhz, 2T. 16-16-16-36-1T is AIDA stable but does not always boot :(

The article about Skylake having a good memory controller did not come out when I ordered, would have bought better RAM if I had known.

Boot issue will probably be SA issue or maybe lower timing which cant train sucessfully. Try adding SA and disabling fast boot on IMC.

Maybe also try around 90 BLK and 3000 divider then. Remember with Skylake PCI is locked at 100mhz whatever BLK you run. You may also get a touch more out of the CPU on 90 BLK.

Didn't have to make any changes in order to get the extra 8GB stable with the 4X4GB 3000C15 Hyper X Predator kit.

All dimms fire up at the same 1.05v SA voltage and DRAMV. Ridiculously easy platform to overclock at those frequencies.

Q-Code 44 is normally SA voltage, 55 either DRAM or SA

I see a lot of people going upto 1.35 and over on the volts this seems a tad bit high? Especially for 24/7 use?

Skylake voltage is shared between the CPU and Cache - so I believe what you see as the core voltage is slightly less than what the cores are actually receiving, as the cache is taking some of it.

8pack should be able to clarify.

1.4v should be fine for daily use, these things don't pull enough current for it be a real issue. You'll max out cooling capacity / chip capability before anything else. Even on an AIO like the h110 I only saw a max load temp during AIDA and OCT of around 66c at 1.4v

What is the i5 6600K like in gaming benchmarks? I was going to get one but decided on a 2nd hand i7 4790k instead as was cheaper. Mine is now stable at 4.7ghz and scores 940 in Cinebench R15. Benching wise on paper its a bit quicker but what about real world use...

I now have my i5 6600K and to be honest I am a bit disappointed so far. I upgraded from an i5 2500 (non K) and I am not seeing a huge leap in games performance along with my 980 ti @ 1440P.

When I run MSI Afterburner and look at CPU usage, it is showing at close to 100% for most games. Is this normal? When I see YouTube benchmarks the CPU usage looks a LOT lower than mine.

I have never overclocked properly before but plan to at some stage. I have done the EZ overclock and have the CPU running at 4.2 (according to CPU-Z, though in the bios it still says 3.6). Is this accurate?

Most games are not showing near 100% for GPU AND CPU usage, even games like Wolfenstein.

Ryse dips below 60 on lots of occasions down to 40 fps, and again this does not represent what I am seeing in YouTube benchmarks.

Games like GTA 5 maintain over 60 fps most of the time but I notice a lot of stutter, esp during cut scenes. Is this just due to a badly coded game in places?

Any suggestions? I am feeling a bit frustrated by all of this!

Only way to tell is to benchmark really. GTA 5 is not the most accurate but mine below in spoiler with settings. It certainly doesnt stutter on mine - Have you tried forcing vsync on then set it on in the game too?

Thanks for the advice everyone so far!

I was afraid to overclock as I have never done it before. I also had an issue where my DDR4 RAM was running at 2133 Mhz instead of it's advertised 3000 Mhz.

As stated before, I had done the "EZ" overclock which brought my CPU speed up to 4.1/4.2 according to CPU-Z.

I had a read through this guide by Asus https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz2VRRbLPrZnMXBnOXRWeVlHcHM/view?pli=1

Decided to try the following based on that article and this thread:

- Selected XMP profile
- Changed RAM speed to DDR4-3000
- Selected sync all cores
- Set limit to 45
- Selected adaptive mode
- Changed voltage to 1.350
- Saved and rebooted!

PC rebooted fine and seems to be running ok! Have I just successfully overclocked?!

CPU-Z shows the following:

- Core speed = 4500.00 Mhz
- Multiplier = X 45.0 (8-45)
- Bus speed = 100 Mhz
- DRAM frequency = 1500.0 Mhz

Do these settings look correct for this to have been successful?

I just decided to have a play with my 6600K, set vcore to 1.3 and multi to 45, ram was already at 3000. It ran 10 passes of intel burn test easy enough, hottest core reached 60 C, coolest core was only 53 so I have large variance.

I left speedstep and everything on, will this be ok? To be honest I don't game so the only work it will do will be un-raring some large files. My idle temps are a nice 26-27 C and my fans spinning at 600 rpm so totally silent.

leaving speedstep on is fine, I always leave it on for extra powersaving and less heat. I have 3x Noctua Fans, spinning @400 rpm :D

Idle temps don't mean much as CPU is only 800Mhz (with a 100 Bclk) when stepped down. But your load temps are very good indeed.

45 ratio and 1.350 seems rather high

Currently mine is table at 1.2750 and that was just a guess and i am pretty sure i could put it down to 1.25 ish

Seems like you have a good one. I'm at 4.4 at 1.35.
I can play some games at 4.5 but intensive ones give me bsod.
