It seems like the whole world and his dog has i7 920 now and it is quite hard to find other 860 users, so I thought why not making a thread for us.

I would like to see YOUR i7 860 overclock. Let see and compare our overclocks :)

This is mine (click on CPU-Z validator in my signature to see more details):

Since I took that screenshot I had to up voltage to 1.37V which I'm not very happy about, probably 4.2 is out of my reach then. My CPU runs between 25-30 idle, few hours of Prime's torture test puts it up to 70s, never seen more than 55* when gaming. My cooler is Thermalright Venomous X + 2 x Akasa Apache PWM fans (push-pull).

Now, let's see your OC :)

I wouldnt mind a litttle help with overclocking this cpu a bit on my motherboard ? we seem to be on our own here :(

Yes, like I said it seems like there is not many of us, 860 owners. Post your OC problem here and I (or somebody else) will try to help you, I'm sure :)

I will join the party :) 860s are a bit thin on the ground.

I've just made the switch to an 860 which I'm testing at the moment. Currently sat at 3.4 at stock volts.

What are you guys going about turbo? Surely those of you running 200 bus will be on the way to 5ghz with turbo. Does that not impact upon stability?

As you can tell, I'm still new to i7 :p

I've not actually read up on any of the features properly yet. I really need to start reading about the implications of turbo and QPI before I tinker any further.

I avoided turbo on my 750, it just made testing stability too difficult. It's worth playing around with auto/offset voltages though so that you don't sit at high voltages when the machine is idle.

i bought the overclocked 860 - evo bundle from ocuk. they said it would be overclocked at 3.8. but its only clocked at 3.64? whats the point in paying for an overclock when they do it wrong. also the 1600mhz memory they have set on 1300mhz? i don't get it. not sure how to fix the problem myself. also with the overclock they put on it takes quite a while to boot up, well infact takes nearly 20 seconds from when you power on to when monitor comes on! this has really put me off buying from ocuk in the future i must say. If anyone with the same setup can help me please add me on msn and ill be on after work tonight 10.30gmt. really would like to know how to overclock this properly. pc specs on in my sig. msn is [email protected] hope someone can help. If the overclock they set is turned off and put back to 2.8 boots fine. What is this turbo thing? am i best removing there overclock and starting over? Right im off to work hope to sort this out tonight. :)

An 860 will do 3.8 all day. They turbo to 3.5. Anyway.

Disable the turbo and set the multi to x20 200FSB (what would be) QPI lowest (mine x32)
Disable est C1e all that junk.
LLC (load line calibration) ON
Vcore 1.36V
QPI 1.36V
Ram (look at your max Voltage ) mine 1.65V
Set you Ram.(mine 8,8,8,24)
O dont forget to set your mem X6 X10 x 12 what ever is need to match your Ram.
If your mobo has any preset things like sport cruse turbo (gigabyte mobos have this ) set it to normal.

Have rushed this so if there is anything missing tell me .

My 4.0Ghz OC is stable and running on my machine 24/7. I'm not that happy with VCore set up at 1.37 with 4.0. I think 4.2 is a no no in my case.

Mine @4.2 has a Vcore 1.40V seems ok runs 24/7 with that.My cooler might help a little with that.
The max Vcore is 1.55V so should be right :)

Edit: Might not be 1.4V might be 1.38/9, will come back to that when i look. I can say that mine is stable @1.34V QPI 1.32 @4Ghz

I though you really shouldn't go above 1.4V.

I don't have problems with temperatures yet, idle 25-30*, gaming 50-55*, few hours of torture test absolute max I've seen 75*.

danny thanks for the reply, i have no idea how to change the ram timings? also do not know how to set the memory, the memory i have is in my sig. can we talk on msn? [email protected]

Just had a mess round, tried the 200 BCLK like you said but that was putting it on 4.21ghz! its 21x multiplayer this. so ive put 180 BCLK. Vcore 1.36, QPI only had 2 options which where 6407mhz or 7202mhz so left that on auto?, could not find the turbo option, disable c1e option and speedstep, LLC on, Dram voltage 1.65. Unable to get my memory upto the full 1600mhz? timings are on 9-9-9-28 by the looks on it. And dram is on around 1400. any more help would be great.

Only have 2 secs before i have to go out. Unless you have some good cooling you will not get 4.2. You will be better going for 4.0Ghz 200x20 etc.

Will send you a PM later .
