Yep, that pass of IBT on maximum failed after the third pass. So I have to jiggle the juice a little more, well I don't think I'll spend too much time on this 4.0 OC, i suspect my lame core and a full 4 sticks or ram are making this just a little too toasty.

I guess it's time I got unlucky with a core/cpu, I've had a couple of blinders since the introduction of Core2.

Been playing with mine, ... happy with a sub 9.5 Super PI.

That won't be prime stable, not with the ram being pushed so hard, I'll try it at the weekend with slacker mem timings :)

Ahh thought that was stock ram. Nice Oc if that gone from 1600 :) Mine will only go from 1000 to 1075. (2150Mhz) 1050 is stable

was just joking mate, but they do get hot currently looking for a better case to try and get my temps under 70c not sure if i shud get air cooling rather then th h50

Wasnt sure mate,I have seen a rig catch fire once. He had just hit the thing with a lump of wood! Lonng story lol but lets just say he was a little pi**ed of with it.

I have never used a H5 but seen some reviews they seem ok if your running a small Oc. I would say you would have to spend £70 on a top air cooler save your cash and make a custom water loop.

The UD5 is better but you will not go wrong with the 3.

The UD5 is a great choice for slot layout (most of the others don't leave a 1x slot available in SLI).

Definitely agree about them loving the volts - I was aiming for 3.8 - 4ghz on mine, but freaked out when it hit 81c under P95. On the other hand 3.65ghz is pretty chilly, with great voltages. Even with push/pull, 4ghz was too much of an ask for my Megahalems :(

Cenuij - I had the same issue with one core being about 3c hotter than the others. I ended up switching my TIM to IC7, which brought it down to the same as the others (I guessing it's more down to application than anything else - changed from line to pea-sized blob)

I'll try and post full voltages later. I did notice that enabling LLC helped with stability, but going up to level 2 wasn't worth the insane temperature boost.

BTW, turbo is worth enabling to unlock the 22x multi. That gives you a bit more flexibility if your memory is holding you back (being stuck with only an 8 or 10x memory multi isn't a whole lot of help if you're using DDR3 1600)

My friend is thinking of using an ASUS P7P55D Evo for his i7 860 processor with a titan fenrir v2 cooler. Does anyone have this motherboard??

Does this look like a good setup for overclocking?

I have always had Gigabyte boards apart from 2 ASUS,Iam not a lover tbh never had much luck with those.
Thats prob down to me though.

Cooler looks good might evan be able to fit a 2nd fan and make it push pull.(if there is room)

i've got the P7P55D good board but i do prefer gigabyte boards these days only got the asus board coz i got it cheap.

1.37V CPU and [email protected]. Thats what i use.
I also have one core thats 6c hotter than the rest, think thats down to me cutting part of the water block away to increase flow rates.
Probably not the best idea with my cooling lol.

Gigabyte hasn't let me down yet - solid, well thought out boards. Not that there's anything wrong with the Evo!

Not sure how good the Fenrir will be - the 860 needs good cooling, so it's best to take it in small steps (i7's a different kettle of fish to the C2).

just looking through this older thread again, im still having no luck getting my 860 above 3.8ghz. troop you seem to have cracked it there. any chance you could talk me through it over msn or xfire. i really would lke to be able to hit that 4ghz and have it stay stable. No luck with that so far.

Just about cracked mine at 4.1ghz. I feel like 4.2 is doable, with a bit of tweaking, but realistically going from 2.8ghz to 4.1ghz makes me very happy! Temp's max out at 80 during IBT high load with a Fenrir Evo.
