Just wondering about my temps, at stock been running Prime for about an hour

they seem a little high? running on a Corsair H50-1 push pull

I did up the bus speed to 190ish and tweeked the memory also and managed 4ghz ish but when running Prime at that speed it got up to 96 degrees!!:eek:

cheers for the replies, I have already reseated the H50, temps went up

CM690 case I have two Scythe Gentle Typhoon's in pushpull on the H50-1

I will run a 10min Prime with the regular RT

aye re applied mx3, screwed down in crisscross.

push pull (I will double check I didnt put push push LOL!) and I'm confused!

A quick 10min Prime using the regular RT

push pull as an exhaust, my next question is. when I turn the rad upside down on the H50 I can hear the water/coolant sloshing around - logic says if its a closed loop system surely there should be NO air in there

oh and the last screenprint, I had the side off of the case so yeah weird!

theres definitely a slosh - dammit. absolutely no leaking!

used nice blob, nothing excessive - the amount I usually use and have done for the last...10years

Thanks for all the replies, I have no logged an RMA with OcUK and will be returning it - hopefully get a replacement! I will not be happy if it is found to be working correctly..

Someone on the Corsair forum also said it sounds very odd and I should RMA it so that kinda put my mind at ease.

Cheers

well I'm not happy, apparently its working fine...

I had better not be charged for return carriage.

Lets see if I get an improvement on the temps once its back

yeah definitely worth a shot, considering thats going to cost me £20/25 I could have spent the extra and got a new one! They replied with

"Tested and working fine running prime 95 temps no higher than 50oC. please ensure you have installed this correctly and used the required amount of thermal paste."

Whenever I have RMA'd stuff for work I've never had the supplier do the testing they have just replaced straight away no questions asked...very odd

Support is good, and turn around time is good but I'm not happy with the outcome

Yep automated email response. Then the next email was to confirm shipping back to me.

I have left a message with them asking for test rig specification and also the testers opinion on the sloshing from the rad, we will see what the outcome is...

Also didn't like the way they seem to think I'm a complete amateur with thermal compound.

Just to make it clear, I'm not trying to put anyone off of OcUK as I think they are a good company!

I wonder if I could return it under DSR and get a new one?

*sigh* not happy..

just not happy.....

nearly £30 out of pocket now to be told its fine, not only that the item was returned with half of the original Corsair packaging missing! WTF

last time I RMA anything to OcUK - I should have RMA'd direct to Corsair

cheers guys,
I have left two messages with them expressing my concern, mainly the shipping charge and the fact that I went out of my way to pack the box with plenty of protection..

just cant get the staff these days eh lol

I have reinstalled the unit, and @stock prime95 temps are sitting at 63, max 64 so 1/2degrees better than before

cheers guys,
I have tried with two different fans on the rad, 1000rpm as opposed to 800 and its made 1degree difference, the air is blowing out the back in push pull config.

I can take a pic when I get out of bed lol

The pump itself is plugged into the PSU header and I have tried it in a chassis header - and made sure they are not throttled. The fans on the rad go into my Scythe controller and are on full blast.

I now have an RMA from Corsair themselves, however instead of it being "tested" they will more than likely just replace the unit no questions asked.

If anyone has a H50 that is not installed could they give the rad a gentle shake and see if it sloshes please.. Thank you

sounds like you are using some poor performance fans. especially a fan that spins at 800rpm? what fans are you using? why dont u use the corsair supplied fan?

might be the case that you are also drawing hot air over the rad , depending on the airflow in your system and how many other case fans u got.

remember that its a sealed unit, but that does not mean its filled 100% with water, mine isnt filled 100% with water and it works fine.

honestly, you already rma'd to overclockers and they said its fine, why waste your time and money sending it to corsair before you hahve ruled out all the possible problems with how u got it set up?

originally I was using a pair of scythe gentle tycoon fans in a push pull config push pulling air from inside to outside the case. I have now swapped my two ceiling fans over for the scythe ones and see the same sort of results

also have a fan in the front of the case cooling the 4 hard drives, and a side fan also

bear in mind that the temps are the same with the case side off so plenty of cool air getting to them

to add to this, the head exchanger on the H50 is so warped its unreal. you can rock a rule across the "flat" - clearly it needs lapping

I am unsure what to do now tbh, do I spend more money sending this f..king thing to the Netherlands or not bother and either put up with it or go back to air cooling

I will be on the phone on monday dont you worry!

I have just tried 3 different fan setups.

1. 2 Scythe gentle tycoons in push pull setup, temps circa 68degrees
2. 2 Artic Cooling AF 12025 in push pull setup, temps circa 69degrees
3. Corsair recommended pull setup with their supplied fan, temps circa 71degrees

Sounds like I'm starting to get one peoples nerves, but ultimately I hope this thread helps other people that might be experiencing the same characteristics.

I have tried a stock 775 cooler LOL it was a but toasty but good enough to surf the net ect. I also have a 775 Scythe Mugen - its a BEAST

I might give it a try and pop a pick of my case up today

yes to my suprise it does have the 775 mounting holes, very handy considering before I ordered my system I was trying to blag a free set of 1366 brackets from Scythe LOL

Well I tried to fit the Scythe Mugen but it wasnt having any of it.. looks like the length of the pegs is a bit too short.

picture of the H50 - cable management is pretty good considering its been in and out a handful of times

It was quite toasty but bear in mind the 775 stock cooler is quite a lot smaller than the 1366 stock cooler

Not going anywhere near an OC with it on a stock cooler put it that way!
