Have the above CPU overclocked at 4GHz (1.25V) idles at 40oC and fully loaded ndges 70oC on all cores under my megahalems cooler. I mainly use the PC for gaming and video editing, my question do I actually need HT? I have it enabled atm. I've read somewhere games may take a performance hit! Also by switching it off, how much does it lower temps by?
Thanks in advance,
Jonnygrunge.

I've read that HT can increase temps by as much as 10 degrees C.

I'm currently using an i5 without HT and don't have any problems gaming.

Interesting! What is the temp difference to be expected by turning off HT? Is'nt dx11 going to utalise muti-core on GPU and CPU more though?
