Hi guys,

Im looking for some advice on my cpu temps.
I am running a i7 950 @ 3.8 via cpu level up (crazy setting) on my rampage 2 extreme , being cooled by a Corsair H100.
My idle temps are 49-55c , I do have 2 x gtx480 sandwiched together producing a lot of heat and room ambient temp is about 20c.
Under load with prime95 temps reach 90c on one core after 15min.
Are my temps right?

I have no room for push/pull configuration.
I overclock on bios using the cpu level option on my rampage II extreme.
According to cpu-z voltage is 1.349v.
CPU is a D stepping.
I believe the pump is sitting on right and the caps are still away from socket.
Also im using the paste that came with h100, should i try artic silver 5?
Im not that confident in oc so i use the bios option (cpu level up).

At stock speeds i get the following temps 37-42c idle 59-65c load with prime95.
The cap just to the left still got clearence so its fine.
For the thermal paste ive allready got ac5 so not gonna buy other?
On the h100 i have the fans on the top part of the corsair 600T(under the top cover bit) would that matter?
Thanks for all the replys btw!

Are the 480's reference or non reference cooled? Ive found with my sli setups, the non ref cards caused a lot more heat. The stock cooled cards expel out the pci bracket. Whereas the non ref cards dumped heat into the case, this then rose up and effected the cpu temps.

The gtx480`s are using stock coolers!

Have you got the H100 fans pulling air in or out of the case?

Its pulling out of the case , but fans are fitted onthe top compartement.

Right just turn H100 fans to push air from outside and noticed a decrease on temps of 4-5c. idle temps are 30c and allways one core going mad at 37c .thanks guys

To be honest i wanted to keep the window , as the mesh panel ruins the look of the case .
But i suppose that the cost of having 2 x gtx480 is having fans next to it.
Right next is mesh panel with stock corsair 200mm blowing out right?
I`ll report shortly.
Again thanks guys.

Right got the side panel with the corsair 200mm fan on it , and also fitted a zalman 120mm fan just below the dvd-rom drive.
Overall it helped cpu temps , they are idle at 30-33c and one core as allways going mad at 38c no matter what.
As for gtx480`s the bottom card now idles @ 55c and top @ 60c.
Should I be happy with these temps?
Also should I make side 200mm fan intake?
Keep in mind everything is @ stock speeds (cpu/gpu`s).
Next got turn cpu level up option to 3.8ghz to see temps.

My temps @ stock with IntelBurnTestv2

Prime95

I think the problem is with the 2 x gtx480 sandwich together that close, they produce a lot of heat that rises to the h100 rad making my cpu temps higher.

atm i have on my 600T 6 fans:

1 front intake 200mm bitfenix spectre pro
1 rear exhaust 120mm bitfenix spectre pro
2 x 120mm stock corsair in the h100 intake
1 x 200mm corsair exhaust on side panel
1 x 120mm zalman ZM-SF3 120mm White Shark Fin Blade Fan intake

Still temps are as high as that!

idle temps @ 33-38c

Have you tried re-seating the block on your cpu?

No I haven`t! will try it tomorow.

Anyways had a read tru that oc guide and I think got it stable @ 3.8ghz but with temps @ idle 39-45c @ load 64-70c (intelburntest) @ 1.293v.

From that guide i left all ram setting auto. I will post a link with video showing all settings in bios.(my heart races evrytime i play with bios lol)

Im still playing with lowering the voltage but i think its a great inprovement from temps with preset oc that reach 80c+ under load.

Again thanks everyone for tips and ideas , without you guys i would never try this.

I dont think it's the cards, as theyre reference cooled, theyre exhausting most of the heat out the pci bracket covers. I had two sli rigs, the one in sig and another i7 930 with sli 460's. The lower clocked 930 ran hotter, due to the gpu's in it being non reference cooled, theese dumped the heat into the case. Whereas my higher clocked 920 with reference cooled cards ran much lower.

Thing is I am now running only one card and temps are better.Because they were that close together a lot of heat was produced and idle temps were higher than normal, because they couldn`t breathe.

Quick question bios shows 3.6ghz , cpu-z 3.8ghz ?
