hey guy this is my new build that i came up with, just need a little bit of help on changing thing where or not they are decent, looking to beable to OC this baby quite a lot

just a few questions,

1) Mobo a good choice with the rest of the gear?

2) ram right stuff to use with this or maybe go for something cheaper?

3) extra cooling needed?

4) What monitor should i go for.

Edit - £2,000 to spend. Sorted pic

All very nice, all the gear looks a great pick.

For the Cooler, i would go for the Noctua Cooler, althought the Coolermaster V8 wouldnt be a bad choice.

Then as for the monitor, i use a Acer G24, yes its a TN panel, and yes its orange. But i love it.
Other people may suggest the NEC gaming monitor or one of the Dell ones

Go for a blu ray drive. Also you might want to check with OC to make sure the 8 pin EATX12v lead is long enough on that power supply coz i know from my own exerience that it is too short to route through the back of that case and up to the top of that mobo on the 620w model, you may need an extension cable but call and ask to be sure. It looks very unsightly going as the crow flies.

am I reading that right? A GTX295 is five HUNDRED pounds?

There's no way thats twice as good as a GTX280 or similar.. I'm using a GTX280 on a 1080p screen so for the most part the same res as a 24" and it cruises.

Fine your budget is £2k but thats just crazy money.

Ok, original corsair PSU with ugly short EATX12v cable:

Also this PSU is better suited to top mounting or you'll have to turn it upside down so the fan can expel the heat. Either way it blew up after 2 days so i got a Be Quiet instead (yes i did turn it round)

Cable management:

All done with new PSU installed:

Nice stuff there mike, think i'll give them a call some time, or just look it up.

I know matt, what i was thinking, if i update the cart comes to around 2.2k, which is kinda over, i have that sort of cash, but i'd rather not go that high, but then again less updates in the long run.

That 4870 is the 1gb model. It was £180 odd inc vat. I run it on 1920x1080 and it breezes it if that helps. Theres room for another on that mobo if you want to go nuts

I would rather change the GPU, save around £200 by going for a 4870X2. Not too much difference between the two. Also save some money by going for the Acer G24 (very good monitor).

This. I'd recommend the Noctua cooler too. Might not look as good (when will they change those colours?), but it's smaller and cools better.
