I7 C-State @4.2HT Help ?!

Im trying to get my clock to report 4.2ghz HT with Cstate enabled so that it down clocks when idle.

though im having issues

i normaly run 24/7 200x21
but when i enable c state and turbo i end up getting a 22x mulit that makes my cpu under load reach 4.3ghz

is there anything to change to disable the 22x multiplyer i didnt even know i7 920s had 22x multis lol

and if i enable c state and disable turbo my cpu under load runs at 4.0ghz and doesnt change to the 21x multi. for 4.2.

suggestions ?

how about dropping the overclock so under load it only goes to 22x191?

well will everything enabled under load it jumps to 4.380mhz
with 200x22+powertech.

i dont really want to drop bclk as it will lower my memory clock as its already at 1600mhz with 7.7.7.21 T1.

there must be a setting so that it doesnt use the 22x multi.

if i disable the turbo tech all i get is 200x20 but no 21x multi. its like it vanishes. and also speeds dont go up and down stays at 4.0ghz only.

i thought speed step did that not turbotech.

The above suggestion makes the most sense. i7 920s will go to 21x under load using 2-4 cores and 22x under load with a single core. You won't notice any slight reduction in RAM speed.

depending on mobo, you can just turn off turbo function, but still use the 21 multi, i know i can if i wanted too.

Not on my motherboard you cant when i enable turbo i cant get the 21x multi only 22x with turbo disabled and c state enabled i get 4.0 only and speeds dont fluctuate lol
