Im looking at the H-50 but I am wondering how it compares to the Thermalright TRUE Copper CPU Cooler. Also I would like to ask you forum people what you think is best to go for. A good, high quality air cooler or the H-50 or some other cooler? I am going to be heavily overclocking a Core i7 so I need really good cooling at about 4Ghz.

Thanks for your help,

Jake

Nope size is no problem i think. I'm getting an Antec 1200 case so lots of airflow and space. I'll check the Noctua out thanks for the suggestion.

I don't have the Venomous X or the TRUE on there yet, but you can clearly see it's better than the Megahalem and everything else.

Nice comparisons you've got there. Would be useful to see (as you say) the TRUE or even the H50 on there. I'd really like to know how it compares to my H50, i'm getting nowhere near the 55c temps on full load after small fft testing. I wouldn't have thought it was even possible without good watercooling and a pretty cold room to get those temps.

Those are delta temperatures to make it a fairer test so just add your room temps to it to get an idea how it really performs. The only thing is my i7 is using 1.3v so temps tend to be higher than some users on here. The main point is to see the relative performance of the coolers.

Oh right i get ya. Sorry i've never come across delta temps before (learn something new everyday aha). Anyways yeh my i7 is running at 1.3v as well, need that much to keep it stable. Temps go to around 73c-76c on full load with about a 22c room temp when running small ffts after about 12 minutes. Guess my H50 in p/p works out roughly in the same region as that Noctua then.

It's hard to say if your results can compare to mine. There could be other factors influencing the results such as case airflow and even thermal paste. Funnily enough, I ran out of Arctic MX-3 and used a different thermal paste that's getting me even better delta temps on the Noctua but I haven't added those on because the rest of the coolers use the MX-3.

Once I get the Venomous X, I'll definitely post the results here so people can see the difference between itself and the Noctua. It's hard to compare temps from 2 machines as I said. Also I use LinX rather than Prime95 to test so that could make a difference between our setups.

Nice one, the more coolers the merrier :) n yeh i think i'll give LinX a go and see how it gets on, cheers.

Megahalems with 2 enermax magmas running full on with my 920 DO on stock 33c idle best fans and air cooler ive had to date tbh.

Hmmmm. I've got the old Noctua U12, and after an hour of OCCT I get about 76c. (ambient ~15-20c) Doesn't seem like a hugh leap in performance tbh.

The NH-D14 is better than my old NH-U12 by about 9-10 degrees on my setup. As I said, comparing two different setups won't give you a picture of what kind of improvements an NH-D14 can bring.

I remember reading the HardwareCanucks review that nickrose posted. It looks like the D14 is the way to go in air cooling.
