Hello,

Planning on purchasing a new system in the next few days-

Any comments / feedback / recommendations on the below would be greatly appreciated.

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) – Retail - £214.98

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard - £198.98

OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (OCZ3G1600LV6GK) - £118.98

Akasa AK-CC017 Freedom Tower CPU Cooler (Socket AM2 / AM3 / 775 / 1156 / 1366) - £26.99

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g) - £6.89

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 275 Super Overclock 1792MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £224.99 (550w+ PSU recommended)

Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST32000542AS) - £132.99

Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-850HXUK) - £126.99

2x Akasa AK-FN054 Quiet 80mm Pearl White LED Fan - £13.78

Total inc Vat and Shipping: £1,077.07

Already have all the peripherals etc, and it is all going into a NZXT Lexa Classic case along with a Creative SB Fatal1ty 7.1 sound card. Windows 7 Home o/s.

Hoping to try and overclock this to the 4ghz mark, as I’ve based the above shopping list around some of the bundles / full builds on the site where they’re reaching 4ghz, as well as other reviews/recommendations from the manufacture sites. Bit of a beginner so will be doing some researching on how-to overclock. Could end up being a very quick and expensive fry-up!

This system is purely being used as a games machine and to future-proof myself for the next 2-3+ years.
Will be doing a bit of tweaking to get it down to as close to £1000.00 (think the cost of the MB has shot up from the price it was yesterday!!) Bit of a result most of the components I’ve been looking at have all come up in today’s new deals for the next 7 days.

So as above- if anyone can give any comments on this it would be very much appreciated- particularly overclock-ablity, overall component compatibility and the PSU for the whole lot.

Cheers
