i7 or i5?

Pointless argument. Only difference between the two is hyperthreading. If youre going to make use of it, get an i7, whereas if you arent going to make use of it, save some money and get the i5. There you go, not difficult is it.

I just bought a i7 2600k. Sooner or later they will turn on HT for more apps and it'll be useful. I don't want to forklift again for three years.

I also use Virtual Machines and emulation software a lot. I think it will be useful for me. If it isn't, I'll let you know.

Just read this thread. I think the mods need to have a word with someone...

Anyway, I've got a 2500K and it's great. I agree with all the sensible posts above- if you need HT get an i7, otherwise an i5 will kick enough bottom for most purposes.
