On all the I7 cpu's it says Triple channel DDR3 800/1066/1333 MHz
Would 1600mhz ram still work with the cpu and would it be limited or not?
Any help is appreciated,
thanks guys

Anything higher than DDR1333 is considered to be overclocking the memory controller so 1600mhz operation is not guaranteed, you also have to increase the voltage to 1.65V which is basically Intel's safe limit.

Generally though, it's easily managable with only 3 banks of memory installed but less so with 6 due to the added stress.

Looking at benchmarks there's also not a massive benefit to running DDR1600 over DDR1333.
