i7 Voltage scale

My CPU can do 3.9GHz at lower than stock easily (62 passes of 16-thread maximum level IBT :D) but fails miserably at 4GHz. Still haven't had time to find a stable level for 4GHz but I know for a fact that it's not gonna give acceptable temperatures if we have another 30+ degree week so I might not bother.

My board wont even post with memory at 1200mhz. Its happy a 1600mhz so leaving it at that.

and that helps him how ?? dont understand what you have said in a way that helps BigBruiserAl

i was merley telling him what i had to do to get it to 4.2 gig, i did not tell you to chnage your ram. ws trying to offer some help thats all

Unless I'm missing something, the OP is unstable at 4ghz and is now deciding to go for 4.2 despite not being stable at 4.

Don't do this, get it stable at one point before you move on. If you can't stabilise at 4, what makes you think 4.2 is reasonable?

A machine that can no longer execute code is not useful.

i cannot see the point of overclocking to 4.2ghz if its already stable at 4ghz .....0.2 ghz is not going to make that much of a difference .
I would rather have a stable system than a faster unstable one .....but if you want to go to 4.2 then good luck to you :)

I was saying that my board wont even boot running the ram at 1200mhz so the OP should keep that in mind if he has troubles with your settings. I wasn't having a dig at you or thinking that you were offering me advice. :o Im not sure what I meant by "Its happy a 1600mhz so leaving it at that."

Try to bump your QPI/VTT. I think I have same chip as yours, I can do 4GHz with your same settings, I found mine loves QPI/VTT, currently set to 1.335v. I recommend to use OCCT CPU stress test atleast 2 hours, much better than prime95 and LinX. I can do 50 passes LinX with max memory but I fail OCCT after 1 hour[124 Bsod] which refers to insufficient QPI/VTT voltage

Was not really explained so my bad, solid as a rock on 4ghz no problems.
i was amazed to see vcore set at 1.30625 then set to 1.34 only made a 4c rise in temps under load:D
