Hi guys,

Posted in the memory section about another issue but think it was me being stupid so just need something cleared up.

I have an i7 920, p6t deluxe v2 and 6gig corsair dominator ddr3 1600mhz ram. As soon as I change the memory clock from 1033 or whatever it is to the 1600 it then blue screens on bootup. Now the pc is rock solid at 1033 but even blue screens at 1333. This is with ram voltage at auto or 1.64v.

Now my question is would the pc blue screen due to the cpu not being sufficiently clocked high enough to cope with the ram speed of 1600mhz and with it being forced to do something it doesnt want it blue screens? If I did need to clock the cpu would I need to increase the voltage going to the cpu by a lot ?

Also would the CPU be locked as it says in the bios that if the cpu is locked it will only take 877mhz ram or the 1033mhz memory? Its a retail boxed I7 920.

Sorry for all the questions but I7 is all new to me. Last cpu and board i had was a 939 core athlon 64 lol

Thanks for any help.

Yea I have set that to xmp but it still blue screens and it pushes the voltage for the memory to 1.66v. Only way it will run stable is at 1066 with everything else set to auto.

Just out of curiosity mate what speeds are your cpu and ram running at ?

Would you mind posting your board settings if its not too much trouble?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Have run at a number of options.

Default for everythnig with the XMP profile so thats cpu 2.6 and memory 1600

Currently run 3.6 CPU and 1300 ish for the mem for day to day stuff. Will go up to 4.2 Ghz and 1650 ish for the memory

Only difference is that I dont have a v2 board

What is the voltage like on the ram and the cpu mate?

I have got mine set to auto for everything and is stable as a rock. Might try clocking the cpu first and see what happens then move onto the ram.

Not sure if there is much diffrence between the boards except that it supports 2000mhz ram.
