Ibiza tips

Blimey I didn't realise it was quite so expensive! I guess we will be doing a lot of pre drinking then!

I really don't want to be hanging out with a bunch of chavs, where would you guys suggest is a good place to stay for a mix of clubs and things to do during the day?

I've been to Ibiza for the day and it was pretty quiet but this was over 10 years ago.

If I was to go there again it would be to goto café del mar and watch the sun set.

I went in 2006, 2011 & 2014. Definitely go to the sunset bars - Cafe del Mar and Mambo. It's the main reason I stayed in San Antonia the three times I have been, that and it being a lot cheaper and great for 'a few' pre-drinks :D

I didn't manage to get a drink at cafe del mar as they open late and I had to leave at 5pm,did go to Mambo and have lunch and a few drinks though :)

We stayed in Den Bossa for a stag. Hotel Mare Nostrum - cheap all inclusive which is sensible given the cost of alcohol over there.

This is what probably 70% of people visiting Ibiza go for!

OP, what music do you and your party like?

Techno, commercial anything really. Just not in a place with a bunch of sweaty 20 something's ( I say that being 28!). I was in Berlin this summer and liked it!

I'm not 5th wheeling either, it's me, my ex, her friend and my 2 friends!

I went back to San Antonio last year, i've spent a season out there back in the late 90's, i loved it. The bay has some really good places to start your night, even all day parties at Ocean Beach, which is basically a club based around pools, there are a few VIP areas there. We went to a nice tapas restaurant too while we were there, it was called Tapas, it was just off the main road off the bay. They have a great market along the harbour now which sells all sorts, it's definitely worth a look. Make sure you sure you check sunset out at Cafe Del Mar, but make sure you get there early, it gets packed! There's a nice little restaurant round the corner on the way back to San An harbour called Ritas Cantina, they did an awesome Bami Goreng if you like that sort of thing. We went at the tail end of the season s o most of the youngsters had already gone home so even the west end wasn't as lairy as it normally is. Still tonnes of lucky lucky guys around though, and drug dealers keeping the tone lowered :D

Mambo and Del Mar for the sunset is great but VERY VERY busy. We stayed in the bay area further around San An last year and personally found a better place to watch the sunset. Either with a drink at the bar Kumharas or just chilling out on the rocks near by.

A few samples from last year. Not busting with bodies, a bit of back ground music from the Kumharas bar a few yards away, great place to chill.

Hello people,

I'm going to Ibiza beginning of July for a week, nothing booked nothing planned. Going with 2 girls and 2 guys does anyone have any recommendations for places to go and places to stay? I've been told pre planning is essential ( nothing is planned!) We are all approaching 30 so we want to party but probably not with the Nappa type of crowd and do some things during the day.

Cheers!

If you can get in, The Hotel Gran Sol is the no1 rated hotel in San an. Family run and suits all guests from families to clubbers. It is situated not far from Sunset strip further up, away from the main San An. Playa Bella apartments/hotel in the bay area is really nice. Stayed last year for 11 nights. Shops close by, nice beach right on the front of the hotel, boat taxi a few hotels down (5 min walk). The walk to San An from the bay (playa bella area) is about 30 mins or so with a pushchair/2.5 year old walking so a fair few mins shorter for you guys. Its a nice walk, a few street to walk on past hotels initially but you soon get on the sea front and it really is nice. Plenty of bars on the way.

There's a Lidl next to bus station to stock up on Bimbo bread, wine/beer/spirits etc. dirt cheap but good quality. It gets VERY busy in there though.

We didnt go this year but fingers crossed I will be heading out w/c 10th Sept on my own for a few nights. Mostly to take photos, travel the island more with out a child to worry about. Do my own thing. Can't wait :)

Still a clubbing destination yes. The music is a great deal varied now. Live acts now dominate the pretentious crowd such as Craig David and someone else who skips my mind right now. The big clubs like Amnesia, Ku (or what ever its called now) Hi Ibiza (formally Space) all have the hard house, techno, commercial etc plus nights such as Elrow, cream, etc.

If you're into trance, house, techno then I am sure you will find a club somewhere at any time playing what you like.

Here are a few links to some great information on Ibiza. If you're thinking of going and wondering what to do or expect then have a read. It's a bible for the island.

Website and the forums you may have to sigh up to view though, not 100% sure. I am a member so I can see the threads.

This, just this! My 3 times in Ibiza we have stayed at the Gran Sol. Half board I don't know how I would have survived without - The food is fantastic quality for the price and can get an alright nights (OK, few hours mid day) sleep. I'm talking buffet of seafood including king prawns, fresh fruit, hot and cold meats, vegetables etc. Basically, a requirement if you don't want your body to give up after 2 or 3 days. The food at the Gran Sol literally saved my life :D

The staff including reception, cleaners and barmen are all really nice and a good laugh too

Thanks. Trance and hard house is my bag, so all good all good :-)
