trust me my application is good, and the test is actually quite hard coupled with the time constraints there is a huge amount of pressure...but cheers fella's the support!!! i swear some people just sit on here all day waiting to have a dig at others

lol at that. Never mind man, just keep trying. :)

Loose that chip off your shoulder it will get your more rejections than anything in interviews, remember the companies dont have to employ any students at all. Besides keep trying, I didnt get my placement confirmed until May time really, and I ended up on a foreign placement.

Not even going to say anything, just re-read what you've said

Goodluck in future!

On a side note, ive got an interview with HP next week :D

I've met plenty of IBM employees and they can all form sentences. I don't think it's going to be a huge loss to the company ;).

Prepare for corporate brain washing, though the London office is nice, really cool lifts (they were on spooks the other week!). Reading office isn't very nice though, but there shutting it soon. Bracnell is taking up all of Readings stuff, can't comment on that office, though It looks really unimpressive from the outside, but it IS near a dry ski slope!

They all seem pretty literate, though there seem to be a lot who arn't actually IBM employee's but contractd in. I spoke to someone who said he's got a friend who's been at IBM ten years but is actually counted as self employed!

hi im a 2nd year uni student...doing business. and just failed my ipato test! so no ibm placement for me. i feel robbed, i should have go to and interview on my application alone it was that good, both the placement office at uni said so upon seeing my application and also the fact my application was accepted in 47 mins!!!! of being submitted. I guess its their loss though
Considering I can barely read your post, I hope your application was a hell of a lot better.

If i get the job it'll be in Bristol, what complaint do you hav about there? :p

To stop any confusion, it's a years placement, not a job, should have worded it better...

I didn't get a placement position at IBM either (applied last year), apparently I didn't have '...enough passion'. I was disappointed at the time, but looking back I don't feel like it was a great loss and to be fair they were entirely correct. Still it could be worse...at least I passed my IPATO and got to the interview phase.

Also, when you post a very self assured post like you did, expect a dig or two. Apparently some people don't find arrogance endearing.

I don't think you're really missing out on much. I worked their Hursley labs during my gap year and it was really depressing. Morale was really low, it crushes any enthusiasm you have. Having said that, it was worth it just for the experience.

They've also cut down a lot on the amount of industrial trainees they're taking so they maybe looking for higher marks in the IPATO.

Yes, there are plenty of contractors, however I was referring to actual IBM staff.

Sweeping generalizations 4tw!

ChroniC pretty muched summed them up, and I'll add - don't treat there employees well or contract staff, overwork and underpay, and dumb performance reviews where you have to get a certain score or dont get a pay rise. The whole IBM culture is a joke.

Just my experience of them.
