Ok, got an IBM netfinity 5000.....

Its got a pentium 3 450mhz cpu....

But i got two pentium 3 733s to put in it...

But when i put one in it says the processor isnt compatible....

can anyone shed some light?

Update the BIOS?
If it's giving you the message when it POSTS, this ought to mean that the board itself supports the CPU, but the BIOS doesn't know how to handle it.

Id agree with this reply, worth a shot atleast

The 450 is a 4.5x100 chip and the 733s are 5.5x133. Unless the chipset can do 133 chips, you're screwed.

OTOH, most servers don't have soft BIOSes with easy auto-setups. You will need to get in to the BIOS and see if the system can be changed there or whether you will need a setup disk.

I cant find a bios to upgrade this to....or anyway to update the bios....

and there are no stories on the net of one of these servers running a 733mhz processor.....may have to buy a new server.....
