IC Diamond24/Perihelion4gm Giveaway

Will be testing mine over a three day period. Did the MX-2 today, removed it, cleaned the blocks with IPA and used the Perihelion for the reseats. Will give it 24 hours to settle in before running the same tests tomorrow. Will do the same with the Diamond 24 and post up results on Thursday.

One thing i will say is, damn this stuff is thick!! It took a lot of pressure to squeeze the Perihelion out of the syringe.

woohoo mine arrived today finally :)
will need to sort out something to test it on though as the machine i was going to test it on is boxed up ready for sale but i'll find something else :)

Mine came this morning, got 2 tubes. Am i right in thinking the ceramic stuff is a permenant bond?

From what i found all the moisture comes out (bloody stuff went all over the cpu retention bracket and dripped onto my graphics card) and leaves a layer on the cpu that is like dry clay. Horrible stuff to be honest. Used the recommended pea size amount and clamped the block down tight. It spread evenly but maybe a pea size amount is a little too much.

What i mean tho is it wont be permenanyly stuck to the heatsink will it? I made this costly mistake one with an Athlon XP system :p

The Perihelion is pretty much the same mix as IC Diamond with aluminum oxide instead of diamond. Viscosity is more or less the same @25 C as noted in the attached chart the old version curve was a lower viscosity mix that we beta tested in one of our giveaways which proved to be unstable. The reformulation is very stable but might be a little less forgiving than the diamond to lighter pressures which is another reason we run these surveys to gather data, refine product application and marketing message, it's not all promotion.

Perihelion is an odd contrast to ICD when dealing with it physically you can roll it up in a ball and it's thick like a window glaze putty, place it on a table and come back in a few min and it's spread into a puddle, kind of like a silly putty it's very plasticine in nature. At 25 C it is like the diamond in viscosity at 20 C you can stick a spoon in it and it is nearly impossible to separate a piece out of it, a quick cut with a knife before it re flows back together is about the only way to do it. At 30 C it flows like honey and is a dream to work with, very clean. At room temps it locks up my 850 psi dispensing machine so I had to add heating tape to the system now at 30 C I can fill a tube every 0.8 seconds.

I never heat a tube before I use it as I am used to the thickness although in winter when room temps are down and people retrieve it from an exterior mailbox with sub zero temps you may want to warm it up a bit before use.

Just found another in the spam folder - we keep records, save all customs receipts, we manage 100% delivery on these giveaway's for those that qualify. Sometimes we misstep but everybody will get the samples. Again sorry to those that got delayed.

Was mine in a spam folder or am I just unlucky? :(

Nothing arrived as yet, will carry on hoping that the postie comes while I am at work tomorrow. Still, thanks for putting this together, I hope I can contribute my modest rigs testing results ASAP :-)

@IC Diamond, sorry I haven't posted my results yet. Got unexpected guests last weekend and couldn't spend any time on this.
My setup is quite complex and let me know what you want me to test first as all the tests will take very long time.
My notebook is HP8510 and I am running RM Clock to undervolt it as well as I have a Zalman cooler to get it nice and chilled.
I am planning to run all the combinations below for 3 TIM's - AS5 and yours.

No RMC, no fan
No RMC, fan max
No RMC, fan min
RMC, no fan
RMC, fan max
RMC, fan min

than, we have 3 tests - Idle, CPU stress and GPU stress since the radiator is on one heatpipe.

Let me know which one you would like to have the results first.

Thanks Andrew. I received mine today.

I have a quick question is 1 hour of Prime95 enough data to provide ?

Also will I need to test both compounds ?

Bashy.

My IC Diamond 24 and IC Perihelion have just this morning arrived. ill test them out over the weekend. Thanks for these, didnt really expect anything so im made up. :)

Love my IC Diamond, bought this for my i5 2500k and using it with my Xigmatech Dark Knight which doesn't get that good of a review. I went from idle temps of 35c (mx3) to 31c and max temps of 74c to 66c on an hour run on intelburntest. Impressive stuff, I used a pea sized blob and tested the day after fitting cooler. My mx3 was the same, tested day after fitting.

Edit: Should maybe mention that is with the i5 @ 4.6ghz not stock speed.

Very nice stuff,

41c idle / 75c load

MX4

42c idle / 78c load

slight differences but good diffrences none the less.

My Results

Hi All,

Here are my results, using the following components;

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ)
Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard (Bios F12)
Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle
Coolmaster Cosmos RC1000 case - all fans replaced with Scythe Kaze-Jyun (2000 rpm)
Corsair H50
Asus 6870
OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB
500GB Western Digital Hard Drive
1TB Samsung F1 Hard Drive

First Test using AS5 on default settings;

Average Room Temp of 23.6C
CPU Temps (After 5 minutes idle) -> 31C - 34C
Prime 95 (After 1 hour of blend test) -> 66C - 72C

Second Test using AS5 on overclocked settings;

@ 3.8GHz, Vcore @ 1.225v, QPI/VTT @ 1.335v, IOH Core @ 1.240v and DRAM Voltage @ 1.660v

Average Room Temp of 23.2C
CPU Temps (After 5 minutes idle) -> 41C - 44C
Prime 95 (After 1 hour of blend test) -> 77C - 84C

Here are my results, using IC Diamond, after letting it set for about two hours to cure.

First Test using IC Diamondon default settings;

Average Room Temp of 22.6C
CPU Temps (After 5 minutes idle) -> 30C - 33C
Prime 95 (After 1 hour of blend test) -> 59C - 64C

Second Test using IC Diamond on overclocked settings;

@ 3.8GHz, Vcore @ 1.225v, QPI/VTT @ 1.335v, IOH Core @ 1.240v and DRAM Voltage @ 1.660v

Average Room Temp of 21.8C

My IC Diamond 24 and IC Perihelion have just this morning arrived. ill test them out over the weekend. Thanks for these, didnt really expect anything so im made up. :)

That raises hope for me as I am still awaiting the posties to come up with the goods.

I have (finally) realised that I can use the Speedfan modules with OCCT so I will be able to produce full temperature graphs for all 4 of my cores on my i5 2500k when the ICD does arrive.

As I have a weekend free I will test at various CPU states (Stock, 4Ghz, 4.4Ghz and 4.6Ghz) using OCCTs standard 1hr test. Hopefully that should be sufficient!
