Ice cube maker

I'm assuming hot water doesn't have copper in it like my mum told me when I was a kid as to why not to drink it. Although if your boiler is a tank based kind, couldnt it be oretty stagnant? Also it warms up your freezer more causing it to use more power?

Only with very old cylinders, it wasn't so much the copper (the pipes for cold are copper too...) it was the fact that the water stored could get all manner of filth in it.

Used to be a certain kind of tank that fed both central heating and taps, I can't remember the name of it now. But those were really bad for it.

I just use warm/ cold water from the kettle myself, preboiled water melts slower.

I would never get an ICE machine after having worked in a pub. The slime build up inside of them is horrendous and they require thorough cleaning on a regular basis. The slime is full of bacteria that will change the taste of the ICE and can make you ill if it builds up to much.

NO TY..... Ill stick with those little blue bags that you fill with water or a tray from the freezer.

Ah cool. Thanks for clearing that up.

If the pre boiled water (im sure ive heard it before) is true, then I think I will start doing that. I have 3 or 4 ice cube trays that just sit in the top draw on my freezer, so may as well make them longer lasting :D
