The other day my brother gave me his old sub (he's just got a new dual sub), and not knowing a lot about car audio, i need a bit of advice.

Its a 1000w JBL GT4 series sub and ive got an Alpine CDA-9812RB HU.
Basically i need to know what would be a good amp 6x9 combination to go with the sub. I'd prefer the sub and 6x9's to be powered by the same amp. I'm assuming its cheaper to do it that way rather that have two separe amps.

Get a 4 channel amp, depends on price as to what you buy, bridge two channels for the sub then ditch the idea of 6x9's and amp some good front components = win :)

Well I dont really want to be spending mega amounts. I spose I can spend about £150 on an amp and about £100 on speakers.

Nah 6x9's + sub suck well tbh any 6x9 in any config sucks, its one or the other for the components depends how big your stock speakers are ;)

stock speakers are 6".

If i did go for those 6x9's would that amp be enough?

How do you work our what power the amp needs to be. Do you go by RMS or half the peak etc?
