ICE Please..

My £200 Alpine (few years old now) produces a better quality sound than when I amped the front speakers up with a reasonable JBL amp. The amp is gone and I use the internal Alpine HU's amplification.

I have noted that pioneer build quality seems better than Alpine however my Alpine gets used everyday and the fascia is on/off about 4-5 times a day and although showing wear marks works as good as day 1.

My dad has an alpine one similar to that.

It sounds awesome, but it really doesn't look nice and isn't too good to use imo. Sounds better than my pioneer though.

I can't believe the price on the P88Rs fox posted. Two years ago, that was a £400 HU. I know I bought one. It has Burr brown DACS and will blow the pants off anything in the £200 price bracket.

Its no good for chavs though as its a SQ HU that has no flashy lights.

It is good for audio as it has 5v pre-outs

Get this one, its great!

I think i'll save a little more and get Fox's suggestion, looks a very nice HU that.. £250 was really to be inclusive of wiring and fitting.

Cheers ya'll

Well the wiring for a head unit will probably extend to needing an ISO converter at the most, and you fit it yourself, so..

Not a very technical person.. plus I have an audio specialist about 30 seconds from where I live.

Why don't you ask them what they recommend???

Besides, I know sod all about cars and barely know how to drive yet can fit my own head unit, done it a few times. It really is easy!

Can you remove a plug from the wall at home, put in an extension lead, then refit the plug?
If so, that's not a lot less complicated than fitting an ISO adapter.

Sorry to hijack, just got a really quick question for you folks (which might be of use to the OP too?!). I am also in the market for a new headunit to go into a focus, and am probably going to go for this one:

All I want to know is whether the two leads that you need to enable the steering rack controls (the pioneer specific one and the focus specific one) negate the need for an ISO loom. Or, do I need in fact 3 cables to get the whole lot up and running? Also, there are two brands I have found while searching around - Autoleads and InCarTec which do the same kind of thing (one set of leads for the stereo make, one set of leads for the car) and I just wondered if anyone knew if one brand was better than the other?

Thanks
