Ice Problem

Hi all,

I posted a thread a week or two ago about getting a Pioneer DEH 3700MP head unit: Click Me

Anyway, I fitted the H/U today and I have two problems:

1. Every time I switch the car off, the H/U forgets all its settings and completely loses memory. Also, if you were on say track 4 of a cd, next time you switch the car on (and the H/U), it willl read the CD from track 1.

I think this is to do with the power supply going to the radio. I think the ACC or AAC is the wrong way round with the normal battery power supply. Pioneer does warn of this in the manual and say that these two wires should be switched around in this situation... but how?

2. I had to use an aeriel adaptor as it is a Mk3 Golf, but despite using this and it all being connected correctly, I'm getting barely any reception. Radio stations can be heard very faintly, but nothing changes if you touch or extend the aeriel. The aeriel is not the stock VW one, it is a replacement, is this the problem?

Finally, the H/U is in the car now and I have left it how it is. I dont want any damage to be done to the vehicles electrics if the wiring for the power supply is the wrong way round, so fixing this ASAP would be good. Other than this, it does sound very good

Thanks guys for the two replies, but can i ask how??? I thought the cables being the wrong way round were the problem, but how do I switch them - do I need to just pull the red and yellow wire out of the black plastic block and then switch them the other way round, or is cutting wire involved?

If your wiring harness allows you to simply remove cables, then just swap them over. If, however, it doesn't, then a little bit of cutting is in order.

Ok, so just have a tug at the harness and see if the wire comes out - if not, would I be better off taking it to a garage?

The thing that confuses me is that Pioneer's instalation manual shows a diagram of the wires being switched round, but not at the black plastic part of the harness, but as if the wires interconnect. I hope this makes some sense.

Thanks for all the advise, Ill have a bash at both tommorrow if I have time, leaving the wires the wrong way round temporarily won't cause damage though, will it?

Nope, you won't do any damage

I've never known of anyone having problems with this.

Basically, if the HU is switching off with the ignition it isn't going to be draining power at all.

Good to know - thats exactly what I thought as its basically dead being wired incorrectly.

And cymatty...
