Ok, so ive lived for a long time with my cars now and using the stock audio systems, now i want to upgrade :p

Has to be iPod ready, prefer it over CD's

Is it worth actually buying an amp / sub / other speakers? would i notice a huge difference (Im not a huge fan on having music playing at 100% volume, i like my ability to hear still, and want to keep my eardrums intact)

I mean, Is it worth buying an expensive head unit if you dont have an amp / sub and such?

I dont have a clue about car audio in general.

The car in question is a Hyundai Coupe F2 Evolution (2000)

brand speakers over car speakers = Good Difference
Brand Head Unit over car head unit = Massive Difference

The above two together is a good combo.

If you are just a csual listener then a head unit and stock speakers change would do you fine. Spend maybe £200 on a HU £50 on some fronts and leave the rears (or change them for a £30 set).

If you want to go the whole hog get a nice HU, decent fronts and a small sub. Amp them all.

Yes, a good amped system with a nice sub is amazing, depends if you want it and have the cash to fund it.

Ask some more questions or advise how you want to proceed.............

Right, sounds good to me

Id be looking at spending ~£400 on a setup, what are my options as far as ipod ready HU's are concerned? that Alpine one does look about the best ive seen so far, which would leave me around £100 for some decent speakers

Yeah that sounds good, although £300 is quote a bit if you are a casual listener...get a nice set of speakers to go with the HU.

later on maybe think of an amp and sub.

Will you be fitting it yourself?

I suck at DIY things, i could try myself but will probably get it fitted by someone :P

How much would it cost to get speakers / HU / amp fitted?

Speakers 20-30
HU 20-30
Amp 50-60 (getting the carpet up, etc).

All in you might find a place tht will fit it all for say £100.

Speakers you can do yourself easily. HU is quite easy. Amp can be tricky because of the work involved sometimes.
