Was wondering. The Icon A5. let's face it, it's coolness personified

On a more serious matter, do you think aircraft like these could eventually, one day, lead to air travel becoming mainstream for people?

Other than the usual health and safety reasons, they just seem so easy to fly, it couldn't be any more challenging and dangerous than learning how to drive.

I mean to a level where ordinary folk can own A5's to use. There's more space in the air than on roads.

There is also more risk of horrific accidents. Are you basically asking when you think that people will switch over to what is essentially flying cars? If so, never.

The thought of the morons who currently try to crash into me every day when I drive to and from work being airborn scares the living daylights out of me.

I hope personal flying transport NEVER becomes mainstream until the entire process is fully automated with no human override.

I saw a young lady in a Robinson something Helichopter the other weekend.... I'm sure the last I saw of one of those was on tomorrow's world. It looked horrid to be in.

Never say never!

For me the only way it could possibly happen is with full automated control along specified 'corridors' bettween specific limited points it would be an ideal replacement for motorways allowing cars to be stacked at varrying levels depending on how many 'junctions' they would be on th 'road' for.

You are right though in that for local use under user control it would just be a disaster waiting to happen the 3D awareness of the average person just isn't upto it.
