Icy Box 5-Bay Enclosure

Nope,
These are meant as hot swap bays inside a PC case. They have 5xsata and molex connectors on the back. The only way you will get what you want is with the likes of a DROBO or suimilar.

This is to be fitted inside your computer in 5.25" drive bays. It has a single sata connection for each drive. You would need to raid them up together if you wanted them to appear as a single volume.

Thanks philly, guess I'll be giving this idea a miss at those costs :( Will have to put up with with my Sumvision dock, poop.
Thanks for you help guys!

Fraid so! Tis expensive. PErsonally, I use a Windows Home Server System. Cost around £220 to build as I used B-Grade bits. Plus 3 500Gb drives. Upgradeable, expandable, and useful!

I went for the drobo, not for its single drive element though its nice but its ease of use.

Not cheap though, what you see here set me back over £700.

Was thinking about getting a couple of 2TB drives set up in RAID in my old XP machine and set it all up and plug into my router and done, but it means having to find a home for it in the room as its not the smallest setup :S

This is what i've done. So much cheaper than the prebuilt stuff.

I've got a storage server currently with 6TB of hdd space and room for 2 more hdd. Overall cost was about £650 and most of that was on the hardware raid card.

And it doubles as a full server for loads of other stuff.
