Can you buy several IB-390StUS, then just fit each one as needed into IB-390StUSD?

Icy Box IB-138SK-B 3.5" SATA HDD Caddy looks ok too, however can you buy a the bit the HD fits into? (which in then turn slides into the caddy)

make sure your controller supports 'safely remove hardware' (ie, an icon in the tasktray) for the drives

Have to enable AHCI? If not could just swop over the HD with the computer off, bit annoying but usually if I know want to backup or restore stuff I'll put the HD in I need.

yup, ahci is what you want

don't turn this on unless you've installed in ahci mode, or the pc won't boot

-won't harm to try, if it boots, then fair enough, if it fails, just set it back to the old setting

best thing to do, is change to ahci, then reinstall windows (if it doesn't like switching without the format)

maybe needed to give vista an updated driver for your sata chipset during install, or possible bios update

earlier chipsets were more problematic when they first came out

should be fine now though (also, SP1 might have sorted some issues out regarding HD's)

personally, i wish they'd just hurry the hell up with usb3 :)

ok

could be a driver issue, extract latest ones from the silicon image site onto a usb drive and try selecting during install
