ICY NAS-4220 question

bought one of these boxes the other week, put a 500GB Western Digital drive into it, copied all the contents from my 400GB drive in pc onto the 500GB in the NAS. all well and good up to now!!

the problem arrived last night when i put the 400GB drive from my PC into the NAS as a 2nd disc. JBOD setup. there is now a share called IDE1 which i can write to, but when i try to create a share on the IDE1 disc, the option is greyed out on the web interface.

any ideas are much appriciated.

I think this is a case of RTFM and WAD. I'm pretty sure I've read in the other 4220 threads that there are limitations on where shares can be created with two HDDs in JBOD.

thanks for your input. i had read the manual and it clearly states you can choose which device you place the share on.

Formatted the disk when you put it in? File system may cause issues with shares.

yea, both are formatted as ext3.
