ID

If you have a new digitised passport (one where the photo and your signature appear on the same page), you don't send it in, just the number. But because you don't send in your passport, you need to get the photo you send in to them verified, because they don't have the passport to compare it to (they just run the passport number through a database to check you're legit).

At least that's how I interpreted it, when I read it the other day (I'm also applying for my provisional at the moment after I got ID'd for the first time in a pub here. Apparently having a full-on beard doesn't make me look old enough :p)

If you have a new passport, it also pulls the photo off the IPS database.

Not really. My GP's probably the only person I know who could sign that form for me.

Really?

Remember it doesn't have to be a best friend. Just a certain job and knows you.
I think most people write of people to easily rather than actually looking for suitable people within the rules.

If you've got a current passport just the passport number and signature is fine - they can then compare the photo you supply to the one on the passport services electronic record - so licence doesn't need to be sent and no countersigning required for the photo.

Quoted for truth. I'm 100% sure I didn't need a countersign for my Driving Licence and I also didn't need a photo. They used the same one from my passport.

OP needs more acquaintances. Off the top of my head I know of at least 10 people who could countersign my stuff.

Not even knowing one sounds very suspicious.

lol wut.. depends what line of work your in and what type of people you know

the only person i know that can countersign for me is my dentist and my gp, actually my barber could do it to because hes self employed and will have a VAT number

Seems I completely misread some of the stuff regarding passports and cosigned photos. Apparently my brain is full of derp.

My doctors surgery has a big sign saying that they won't countersign photos, I imagine many will be like these. They've got better things to do than field calls all day from the passport folk.

That being said, I have plenty of people who could do it. Friends who are chartered engineers, friends who are coppers, family friends who are senior managers, driving instructors, yadda yadda.

Just go to Your local DVLA Office and get THEM to sign it. They do it, just they dont advertise it or let people know about it. Thats how my MRS got her Provisional license about 3 years ago. And yes they do not charge.

You serious op?

Surely you must know someone who can put their name to your photo? If you are that desperate, I'm sure someone who has not known you for 2 years (1 year?) can sign your photo?

If you have no friends, do you have any family with friends?

If not you are a bit scary.
