Hi Guys,

Last night I was thinking of moving my side fan on my antec 900 around so I followed the wire back to where it went, that was it. As I moved the wire slightly whilst trying to figiure out where it went I heard a crack then seen a spark and a small fire (My face must have been a picture).

I turned the computer off and the hard drive just wasn't there, I've tried loads of different things but I've recently noticed that the chip on the back has exploded(?).

Is there anyway I can get the data back from this?

Thanks

I know I probably should have turned it off, I usually do but I didn't actually plan on moving anything. I just wanted to see where one of the wires went, It was a fatal mistake :(

Looking at that wiki it looks like I'm going to have to replace the PCB as the chip has actually melted (You can see by the picture).

I wouldn't be so fussed if it wasn't for what was on the drive :(

Well, looks like the most affordable option is to replace the PCB from an identical drive and see if that allows the disks to be read again.

Last minute entry, literally lol

Whoops, accidentally posted this in the wrong thread, was supposed to be in the MSI competition thread, my bad.

Feel free to remove mods
