IDE HDD for £50!

Hello All,

I have just recently built a small media-server for my house running Debian 4 and I am looking to increase my storage. However, the drive(s) must be IDE and I only have £50 - £60 to spend.

I know its a challenge, but i'm sure its do-able. I've even looked to see if getting 2 X 320b is cheaper than getting one 500gb but I'm not having much luck finding anything at all ATM.

Any suggestions of where to look or what to get?

As benjo says the rules forbid mention of competitors, you could try secondhand however but I think you may simply need to up your budget fractionally. Either that or buy the Samsung F1 500gb for £47 and a cheap PCI SATA controller card for about £10.

Definitely go with what semi-pro suggested - Samsung F1 & a cheap SATA controller.
