ide hdd on sata system

both my mate and i have sata based rigs, we both have old ide hdd's with coursework on them.

do we simply plug these in on the ide cable that connects to the dvd rom, and set the jumper as slave, and view them in windows explorer ?

Yeah, that's pretty much it. You may have to import the disk in the Disk Management utility if it's a Dynamic volume from another machine but that's a one click operation.
