Anyone got any good cheap places to get a IDE hard drive case, that can take 3+ drives externaly for a PC. Doesnt have to be raid or anything like, just let me use my old IDE drives in the box so the PC can read from them.

Found lots of SATA, but really need IDE.

Any site we post would be a competitor. Plus, you would more than likely need 3+ caddys. Ive never seen an external enclosure that takes more than 1.

Good point about the competiors point, forgot about that on this site. Didnt think it counts if OcUK dont sell it.

I have seen one for sale, but its about £160 for the unit, which is a crazy price for what it does. Still, i shall keep looking.

It comes as a case with a 200W PSU for ~£55 +p&p
As standard it can take 5 x 5.25" devices.
It needs bridge boards to provide an interface to your PC. Bridge boards can have USB, FW, LAN, SCSI or SATA interfaces. I suppose you could just have eSATA cables poking out of the back though and not bother with Bridge boards. Bridge boards are from £20 each and can control between 1-4 drives each.

I have mine filled with 8 3.5" HDs (using a Coolermaster drive cage) via 4xUSB bridge boards ('cos I'm cheap :D )

Got to be IDE really. But thanks for the info, nice. I have found one under the heading JBOD - Just a Bunch Of Disks. its IDE,takes upto 4, no raid on it, and is £116.

OcUK dont seem to sell it, but not sure about posting a link to it yet.
