IDE or ACHI

Hi
I have a couple of SSD drives fitted an recently installed Win 64 bit. I left the storage as IDE is this correct? Does it make any differenece as I seem to remember that ACHI was better...
Not fitted as Raid...

You want AHCI for them. Not sure trim works without it?

Thanks I thought as much. How can I erase windows from the my SSD drive?

Is it your boot drive? I would suggest just changing them to AHCI in the bios, then reinstall windows. Use the installer to do a quick format.

You don't need to reinstall. Google 'change to ahci' and follow one of the guides.

you dont need to reinstall anything,just run this reg file now,and reboot into bios set to ahci for all your drives and save/exit/boot into windows and thats it,youll see windows install the ahci drivers,then install irst intel rapid storage drivers to improve speeds further

Use ide for raid and achi for any other purpose

Here is a test on SATA IDE vs AHCI. Its from 2010 but I think the results would still be similar with newer drives.
