When i built my pc i bought an IDE hdd by accident. Now i got abit of cash spare i was wondering is there any point in changing it for a SATA or will i not notice much difference. I only use my computer to play games etc.
If you need the extra space then by all means go for a SATA drive but if you are simply exchanging like for like (e.g. an IDE 7200.10 for a SATA 7200.10) then you are unlikely to notice much difference in performance.
If you are changing between generations (e.g. a 7200.7 for a 7200.10) then you are more likely to notice a difference but that is less because of the interface than further advances in drive technology during the intervening period.
