hi all i have
1 x 500gb wester digital cavaleir green

1 x 250 samsung spin point

curently set up in ide mode

i have 1 x 500gb seagate pipeline hd2 to add

ive noticed my start up times are slow would raid ahci mode help if so how do i set this up propally

for mechanical hdd's you wouldnt see any improvement switching to ahci, might even see worse performance

if you did raid the two 500gb hdd's in raid 0 you would see quicker speeds but if it crashed you risk losing all your data ect

for 100% speed improvement an ssd is the answer

Once you have set the SATA controller to Raid in the Bios, Re-boot the pc and as soon as you see the first screen press (ctrl + I) that should take you to the Raid utility screen.

then just follow the instructions on screen to create the raid set.
when finished exit that screen an the pc will re-boot.

Go back into the bios and select yor CD/DVD drive as the 1st boot device
load windows cd in the drive and install a fresh copy.

Hope that helps.

By the way its advisable to use two identical drives when creating a Raid set.
