They don't work, and please could you remove the link please :)
I have one my self, they just don't work

hi i have removed the link ????? i only put it up so someone could help me, so none of these work then as on the feedback from the seller there was a few in the last week saying that they work fine ??

and if you are qualified can i send the seller your information to back up my statement that they dont work, so that i can get a refund and then report him to ebay for selling dodgy stuff

I've had to use one before and it worked fine. It won't necessarily show in the BIOS, it depends on the motherboard. Does the drive show up in device manager/disk management?

i never got that far i was trying to boot it up as a single hard drive, but after putting the windows disk in it was not showing any hard drives to install it to

For me I returned one and recieved a replacement, it also did not work. I'm not sure about other people. It may be a different seller for all I know :)

It's all just luck. With some configurations, they do work. Some work initally, but then doesn't after a while. Then for others, they don't work at all.

They're a bit hit and miss.

Typically, they need to be set to Master. Personally, I'd cut losses and buy a new optical drive. I went for an external one since I rarely use them now. More handy to have a USB one lying around for me

This pretty much sums it up from my experience and from what I've read of others' problems.

In my case, I got one working and it seemed ok in a new-build home server. I was getting a repeating interrupt issue that paused all i/o for a few seconds, and spent ages tracking the cause down to the stupid converter. For some reason it's still in my bits box instead of the bin.
