hi i bought ide/sata adapter converter to make my old ide hard drive work on sata board as i recently upgraded but i can't get it to work. i bought a couple of these from different sellers and none of them work. does anyone have any ides why it wouldn't work? all of the these are brand new and out of the box as well

Do the adapters need the drive to be set as master rather than CS (cable select)?
Chances are that's the reason.

Also, have you run power to the adapter as well as the drive?

Is the drive spinning up?

Is it recognised in the BIOS, Device Manager or Disk Management?

the adapter basically looks like this

i put this on ide hard drive and pluged in sata cable and power but the drive is not being recognized at all. it doesn't show in bios or windows. i have sata configured as ide in bios and i can see another option is compatible but that also didn't help. i changed a couple of these adapters thinking it must have been faulty.

i will try this "Also, have you run power to the adapter as well as the drive?"

If that's the adapter you have then it's the wrong one for what you want. That one is for running SATA drives on IDE controllers
