Hi

sure this is mad but are there IDE SSDs for laptops and would it
revolutionise my old 1 GIG CPU 1 GIG RAM Dell XP laptop ?

has to be financial madeness but i'm intrigued

any pointers would be appreciated

You can get them but they're few and far between. Not sure what the performance is like but certainly nothing close to current SATA SSDs (you're limited to 133Mb/s for a start).

Transcend seem to be the only manufacturer from a quick Google.

I am also looking for a IDE SSD but for a Fujitsu Stylistic ST5032D Tablet PC, 1400Mhz, 2GB Ram.

I have been looking around the net, but only seem to come across brands I have never heard before.

You can buy ide to sata converters but tbh unless you're planning on buying a small 2nd hand ssd then financially you'd be better off buying a new laptop

Just search everyone's favourite on-line auction site for "2.5" ide ssd" the are loads, performance >ide hdd but <sata ssd, A company called kingspec make a lot of them but don't be put off by it being an unknown brand they ave a lot of good reviews on the net

From memory the problem isn't with the maximum bandwidth - it's plenty.. the problem is with the latency added and incompatibility.

Have you considered a PCIe SSD instead?
