I have 3 ide hdd gathering dust and id like to put to use but my ml110 only takes sata hdd,

and was wondering are the ide to sata convertors any good?
is there a performance hit (major vs minor) from ide to sata? any view from users who have used them?

The drive i have are 320gb wd cavier drives, so are pretty decent,

I just find ill be a waste just the drives sitting around, gathering dust might as well put to use. run a raid perhaps?

view appreciated...

They work fine, there is a performance hit, but not from the device itself, rather the limited bandwidth of IDE.
Check that you can fit one in your case, some have the drive bays at 90 degrees to the normal orientation and so an IDE to SATA converter will protrude out of the case and not allow you to put the side panel back on.
Otherwise they are fine and do the job well enough.
