IDE to SATA data transfer

OK, a few people may say off the bat that this isn't possible. Maybe it isn't.

I have a load of data to transfer from my IDE hard drives to some new SATA ones. So... can I link the IDE to the SATA drives and pass the data over, or is it not possible to link the two? If not.. I'll just have to transfer the data to several DVDs...

plug both drives into a computer with both an IDE connector and a SATA connector (IE pretty much any PC within last 3yrs) and just transfer the files from one to the other in windows as normal?

Does this mean that in theory I could have four working hard drives in the PC at any one time?

I'm sure my mobo has only got two IDE channels though... or am I missing something?

What would you use 10 HDDs for??

And yes, that makes sense. I have four IDE devices running at the moment [I forgot to count the two DVD drives].
