Hi guys I was wondering which memory which will benefit the E6600 running on the ASUS P5W mobo? I was looking into the PC8000 modules but felt they were too expensive and people kindly pointed out to stick with the PC6400s. If I go for the 6400 then I would like to know I have the option of overclocking it and changing its latencies and stuff :) Would any of these be any good?

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 PK PC2-6400 (2x1GB) (4-4-4-12)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 (4-4-4-12)
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Revision 2 (4-4-4-12)

Are these any good? Plus can someone tell me what the last digit means and which ones really matter for increase in performance? I'm new to this :p

Thanks

man you are spending all this money for a 6600 setup... why play cheap on the memories..??? can you afford 8000? go for it...

or else Gskill 6400HZ and Corsair
OCZ they are usually good for timings but not for high fsb.. atleast to my experience

Geil ok.. i wont object... we all 've seen what they can do but there are better out there!

Which one would you recommend? Was heading for an PC8000 but wasn't sure of which one with a limit £350

Reckon I should go for low latency or high FSB?

Unless you want to overclock over 400fsb which on the P5W DH and E6600 you will have a hard time doing, the 8000 isn't worth it. I say just get some 6400C4 either corsair, geil or OCZ.

well DDR2 get more efficient as FSB get higher...

we were playing with tighter timings on ddr cause we had a virtual limit of 400.
with DDR2 going up to 1111+ well.... have a re ad at this article.. ans ee how much better DDR2 behaves as FSB goes up...:

go through the article from the begining.. but notice the table in the graph in this page:

dont shell out 350 on a pc8000 kit. any 6400 kit will be fine with up to 400 fsb. timing dont really matter on the intel platform so thats nothing to worry about. If you want pc8000 speeds I'd go for the gskill HZ 6400, they use the same chips as the pc 8000 Gskill HZ and are a hell of a lot more reasonably priced.

Corsair XMS2 6400C4. Spending £350 on some ram that you will never use to the fullest is a waste of money. Unless you're an extreme hardcore OCker, 6400C4 will serve you very well.
