Ideas for a Slow cooker?

it should only be used for stuff that you want to crumble/flake away as you bite into it, pasta should still have some rigidity when you eat it.

Best thing i'v had out of my slow cooker is shoulder / leg of lamb. Sometimes add potatoes, onions, mushrooms seasoning etc, or sometimes just do the meat with seasoning and do some roast spuds in the oven.

Lamb out of the slow cooker is nothing short of sensational!

Cheers for the ideas in this thread all, I set a sausage and ale casserole off in the slow cooker earlier for dinner later on tonight when the Mrs gets in. :)

From the start? it would just fall to bits and disintegrate.

What i thought, maybe if you put in loads of water and other stuff too it will be ok.

Thats what i thought about the steak, so i flash fried the second one and it was like leather. tasted nice but tough. It was better in the slow cooker and gave some tasty gravy

500ml stock
Plain flour
Optional chilli

Dust the meat in flour and fry until sealed and place in slow cooker, fy onions till translucent add garlic near end. Also add to slow cooker.
Add in the rest of the ingredients apart from teh pepper.
Cook for several hours, 30mins before serving throw in the peppers.
Server with soured cream and mashed potatoes/new potatoes/dumplings/chuncky pasta or numerous other things.

Brisket is lovely in the slow cooker. I often make my own form of stuffing using garlic, onion, rosemary, bread crumbs & any other bits that take my fancy at the time. Just unroll the meat, stuff, re-roll & tie with string. Seal the meet via a little oil & pop in the slow cooker.

Stews are always fab & as some have mentioned you can get some really nice curry dishes too :D

Did my first sheep casserole in one yesterday and was amazed by how tender the meat came out, loved it and will try some of the recipes above, they look nomnom

I love making stews, casseroles, curries etc. in my slow cooker. It's great for a lazy day like today, I'm watching football and I put in a beef stew this morning which will be ready soon.

Unfortunately I cracked the bowl of my old slow cooker a couple of weeks ago and I picked this up last week:

Just thought I'd put the link in as 14 quid for what seems (so far) like a good slow cooker is nothing and some people here might be interested in cooking some of the recipes in the thread. Today is the first time I've used this slow cooker though.
