Hi All!!

A friend of ours is having her house warming party on the weekend and she is looking for some party/drinking games. Normally I would recommend some card games but due to her religion all card games are a no no, so I'm putting it to the OcUK universe... any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Eastern Orthodox Christian I think, so yeah, booze is fine!!

Fair enough!

I know of one game, although not sure on the name. Each person takes in turns saying they can name a certain number of something (for example, I can name 5 cities in California). The next person along can either say 'prove it', or carry it on (6 cities, etc.).

If they say prove it, and the person can't name what they said they could within a minute, they down their drink.

21.

rules;

the idea is to count to 21. you go round the group and each person says between 1-3 numbers. The person who is forced to say 21 has to drink a shot.

The catch:

1. you can't say the same amount of numbers and the previous person. If a mistake is made, then the person who messed has to drink a shot and the game starts again.

The twist:

The person who says 21 and has to drink a shot, gets to make up a new rule. e.g you have to swop the numbers 9 and 19 around. si it would go 8 19 10 and 18 9 20. Failure means you drink.

Pretty much any rule can be applied, such as getting people sing, do an impression or silly movement instead of just saying a number.

Everyone makes a mistake which means everyone drinks

But if they can the person asking them to prove it has to drink.

Have a big game of welcome to the friend zone. Where you watch that eastern block hotty make out with an alpha male while you sip your drink in the corner.

Very simple one.

Every body sits in a circle and one person is set as guesser and has to guess how many fingers everybody will show on a 3 count.

On a 1, 2, 3 count everybody shakes their hands (like in rock, paper scissors) and then on 3 shows 0 or 5 fingers (so if you have 5 people playing the guess would have to be 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25).

Two ways to make people drink on this are either if you guess wrong you drink or you can do if you guess right you sit out and then the last person left in at the end has to drink.

Another one could be the memory game, where you have to do an A-Z of items, but with a little story, an example could be Disney characters, so player one would say I went to Disneyland and I saw Ariel. The second person would then say I went to Disneyland and I saw Ariel and Baboo, and so on to Z. Drinks can either be someone gets any of the characters wrong that have been previously said or if they cannot think of one in a set time limit for their specific letter.

I'd suggest the game "I have never" then - essentially you're trying to pick something that you have never done but that you think others in the group have, if they have then they drink, if no-one else has then you drink for proposing something that no-one has done. It has the advantage of getting people drunk quite quickly and the possible (dis)advantage of finding out things about your friends that you didn't know. Also if you're feeling nasty you can pick on people very easily - it's quite amusing to see impromtu alliances forming to gang up on someone such as the person whose birthday it is...

You can play the game "21" which involves counting up to 21 as a group, each player can say a maximum of 3 numbers at a time. Any failures, mistakes, swearing or hesitations mean that player must drink, when you make it to 21 the player that reaches it has to drink but they can also change one of the numbers e.g. it then might be "one, two, frog, four" and this keeps building until you're all either drunk, have made it through to 21 while all the numbers are now changed or you get too bored. If you're feeling a bit vindictive then when you reach 21 and can change a word make sure it's a swear word - you have to take two drinks but then you guarantee at least a drink for one extra player every round.

You can also consider International Gentlemans Drinking Rules as a background for everything i.e. it's always in operation whatever you are doing. There's dozens of rules you can add in but normal ones include no pointing, no swearing, no use of the word "drink" and no use of the players real names (e.g. always "the gentleman with the red hair" or whatever) - each mistake requires two fingers of the drink to be drunk and depending on how early you want the night to end you could also play that if someone puts a coin in your drink you must down it to "save the Queen from drowning".
