Ideas for the future

What a horrible thing!

And you want to spend 3k on putting shed loads more power through said horrible thing. Even if you wanted to turn it into some track weapon you haven't even considered the chassis, suspension, brakes, engine internals, or anything regarding balance of teh car.

Just a typical look 'TURBO OMG CORSA WELL FAST INNIT HATEZ SCOOBIES LUNCH BREAKFAST EAT THEM WILL IT' 19yr old without a clue.

Listen to us, save your pennies and put it towards something decent. I'm 24 and have just upgraded frommy first car (Sunny 1.6SR) to an Integra DC2. Now that is an upgrade well worth the £4.2k, and only £1k more than some silly conversion you want to do to your fail corsa B.

Now to be fair, someone that has taken 7 years from the age at which they could drive, to get to their 2nd car, isn't someone I'd take life lessons from.

I also wouldn't call £4.2k "worthy" for "only" a DC2. The money could have been spent far more wisely elsewhere.

Sorry, I missed making the other point that I'd intended to. Imagine you spend say £3k on a turbo conversion for your shopping trolley. Just how much of that £3k do you think it'll retain in value in say a year.
Blow the extra dosh on a better car and it'll certainly be worth more at a later date.

Still, it's your dosh and we can only suggest our opinions that spending any dosh on that is a complete waste of time.

People always try to bring this argument up aganist modifying cars, but I just can't see it.

1) I don't think anyone in the history of the world has modified a car because it financially made. It's a hobby, and hobbies rarely make money (In the grand scheme of 'hobbies', 3 grand is cheap).

2) A 'better' car is subjective. You aren't going to be able to buy a 300BHP turbocharged hatchback for £3,000. Heck, you're going to struggle to find a 300BHP car for £3,000 full stop, and most of the ones that spring to mind had some sort of fundamental flaw - Aristo/Soarer = Automatic, MR2 Turbo = Will be Rev 1/2, and arguably cannot sustain 300BHP for long, early Evo = Do you really want a £3,000 Evo? Early impreza = See previous, VR4 Galant = Expensive to run, etc.

A LET in a Corsa with the correct supporting mods (completely sorted suspension, LSD, R888s, etc) is going to be punching FAR beyond £3k - £4k in terms of performance, so in that sense, it is a bit of a bargain!

You CAN get insured on a small hatchback with a mental engine shoehorned in at a young age, just don't be too surpised when the premium roughly works out to be your age multiplied by the number of horsepower the new engine has :D

What would I do? Dekit it, get a LET engine, rebuild it completely, shoe horn it into your 'sleeper' Corsa, lube up and pay the insurance premium.

What? If your after that type of car, a focused drivers car what else can you get that will do what a DC2 does.

I could get 35mpg out of mine, it would drop to the mid 20's if I thrashed it round. They are also said to be the best fwd drivers car ever.

I would love to see what you can come up with. Have you ever driven a DC2?

Oh dear, I hope not.

While I love my 3 series, it's a totally different car from a DC2, a lot more weight and over all less fun, but its built for comfort, where the DC2 has no sound deadening and is very low geared.

A 205 GTI with a 16V engine! :p

Personally for a 'driver's car' for £4,000 I'd go with an e36 M3. Remember that the DC2 is a 'cult' car for a reason - Not everybody understands them or wants to own one, I know I don't!

Not quite buddy I do know about the internals and strengthening the engine thanks I wouldnt run a car with standard parts etc with a turbo attached to it!

so dont assume cheers:)

Thats actually a nice little corsa, not a fan of the wing mirrors.

Get yourself on migweb.co.uk for some more biased views on what to do.

The same old ****, 'you could have spent it on something else', saved it, gone on holiday or any other crap. And I wouldn't expect you to take life lessons from me, you clearly know nothing about me and making some random assumption really doesn't show much intelligence on your part.

Take note that I significantly upgraded my car for something very unique, different and very special as a drivers car. The OP is taking a crap car as standard and trying to turn it into something that it could never ever be for the price of a fairly decent car. He's trying to platinum plate a turd.

He posted it up here and he's getting opinions. If he wanted to be nursed and adored then he should have stuck to the fanboy chavvy Corsa forum. This is how OcUK motors works :D

And I presume these and the mapping of the car are included in the total cost? ;)
