Identify power steering pump?

Crikey, had to replace mine too but was because somebody had previously done a bodge job with the rod.

Yeah, it wasn't great. In fairness, the original lasted 10 years and it's replacement died (leaked) within warranty (24 months or 20k miles). 3rd was fine lol

Good job!

My old focus had a steering pump issue on it's 2nd year service, ford wanted to replace it saying it was leaking, there was no noticeable loss of fluid in the reservoir so I declined. The next year, still no fluid loss, it passed it's first MOT with an advisory saying 'damp power steering pump'. After it was 5 I started getting mot's at my local indy garage, who enlightened me to the fact that faulty power steering pumps on focuses were a known problem with ford and they'd tried passing the cost onto me rather than mending it themselves. Apparently if they don't fail in the first year they tend to be fine.

By the time the car was about 8 years old there was about 1cm of fluid loss from max, so I tried sourcing some fluid from local independent motor parts shop who directed me to ford because they have so many different pumps.

Ford took the engine number and gave me 1 ltr of ford fluid for £20. I gave it to the new owner when he bought the car last month, only 1cm of fluid loss in 13 years!

End of story.
