Hi guys im really hoping someone with networking knowledge can help me with a problem we are having on our home internet.

Yesterday I was playing online when we had a power cut upstairs in the house. We turned the power back on but was unable to connect to the internet... Both PCs in the house are showing the same problem which is: the PC shows the network as identifying for about 5 seconds then goes to you are not connected (red cross).

I checked the connections to the router and from the router to the wall socked and found no obvious faults so I contacted sky and suggested a possible BT fault....sky carried out line tests and told us that the line is showing no issues, the phone also still works.

Anyway after lots of messing around I gave up and at around 6 pm the internet magically started working again so I guessed maybe there was a problem with the line and that it had now been resolved however.....
This morning I realised that the wireless wasn't connecting on my phone and that maybe due to me pushing the reset button the router needed its wireless settings reconfigured so I logged onto my pc which was still able to connect to Google and attempted to connect to the router....as soon as I attempted to connect to my router boom....the problem returned and im now back at the same point as I was yesterday watching my pc loop in identifying and no connection status.

Please can anyone give me a clue what's going on, I struggle to get any help from sky, its my parents house and I cant seem to find a solution.

Thank you

swapped the router and configured it - all tested working ok!!

Looks like the power drop yesterday could have been caused by the router breaking! its strange how the router went on to work last night but yeah.....its dying

You'll need to enter some information, specifically the LAN MAC address and router type, into the following webpage to get the username and password.

http://www.ph-mb.com/products/sky-calc

That said I used the same username and pasword in four different routers, 2 Netgear 834GT, a 934G and a TP-Link 61N and the only one I had any trouble with was the TP-Linl, which while it worked mostly it was quite slow to connect sometimes.
